The Savage Day Loop is an easy 4.2 mile round-trip hike and a perfect afternoon outing if you'd like to see the eastern part of Savage Gulf, as well Savage Falls and the impressive rock cascades immediately above the falls.
This out-and-back hike involves portions of two trails, a 3-1/2 mile round trip. You’ll begin on the Savage Day Loop Trail, then take the South Rim Trail to Savage Falls.

0.4 Suspension bridge across Boyd Branch.
1.0 Loop Junction – Keep left here to follow this description. (The loop returns to this point after 2.2 miles).
1.2 South Rim Trail and Savage Falls to the left; Day Loop continues to the right. Keep left here for Savage Falls!

0.1 Suspension bridge across Savage Creek. Trail turns right to follow Savage Creek downstream to Savage Falls. Notice the remains of tornado damage here from a November, 2017 storm.
0.5 Overlook and access to the plunge pool of Savage Falls.
After visiting the Falls, TURN AROUND AND RETURN THE WAY YOU CAME IN.
